ABOUT THE FARM

Second Day Farm is owned and operated by Hannah and Erik Nason. Hannah and her husband Erik purchased the farm in 2020 as a fixer upper in the mid of the Covid19 pandemic and spent the entirety of the shutdown replacing fencing, reseeding the fields, building the 120'x60' outdoor ring, 60' round pen and renovating the barn on the property.  Second Day farm got its name during this time as Erik is a firefighter for Lexington and the majority of the work would have to fall on his second day off hence the name Second Day Farm.

HANNAH NASON

Farm Manager

Hannah has been riding and training from the young age of 5 years old.  She started out taking hunt seat and equitation lessons and then quickly switched to three day eventing and has been in love ever since.  She trained and competed her first horse "Sweet Sally" a lovable but stubborn paint pony standing only 14.3 hands from unbroke through preliminary level eventing.  During this time Hannah was able to train with some wonderful mentors including, Julia Wendall, Jimmy Wofford, Sally Cousins, and Stephen Bradley.  Once it was time for her to retire her wonderful Sally in 2012 Hannah went to Midway University where she got her Bachelors in Sport horse Health and Rehabilitation.  During her time at Midway she was an active competitor in both IHSA and IDA.  After graduation she was recruited to work for the prestigious Winstar Farm in their rehabilitation barn.  There she learned how to handle and rehab all types of horses and injuries and use a wide variety of modalities including a class 4 laser, the aquatred, a cold saltwater spa, and swimming for fitness as well as rehab.  Once her time at Winstar came to an end she worked as a nursing care tech for Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital where she learned to care for all post surgical cases, and ICU foals and broodmares.  In 2016 she decided to stay in Kentucky permanently once she met her husband Erik Nason and they decided to settle down and have a family. They now own Second Day Farm a small boarding and training facility in the heart of the bluegrass.  She took some time off riding and training to have her first daughter Grace and is currently expecting her second daughter in July 2022.  Hannah is available for lessons in dressage or jumping.
